Environmental protection agent Jack Taggart is fighting big business types led by Orin Hanner who are dumping toxic waste somewhere in the Kentucky hills region. They also killed his fellow agent and are killing the nature of the region.

Grissom is confronted with new evidence while on the stand of a murder trial of a restaurant owner.
The new evidence in the murder trial requires the reopening of the case and Eckley initiates an inquiry into Grissom and his team. The results of the inquiry lead to dramatic changes of the CSI team and the series. Sarah and Greg investigate the death of a John Doe killed by a modified semi automatic weapon, which goes off accidentally in the lab.

"Crazy" Joe leaves Jerry a message saying he will put the "kibosh" on him. Kramer has tickets for the opera, Pagliacci, and everyone is going including Elaine and her boyfriend "Crazy" Joe. Elaine drops in on Joe's apartment and is she surprised by what she discovers, so she maces him with cherry Binaca and ends their relationship. Susan can't attend, so George tries to scalp her ticket. Joe, a big fan of Pagliacci, comes to the opera in clown garb; Elaine and Jerry attend together not realizing their different estranged relationships with Joe

After much procrastination, George and Jerry strain to think of an idea for their TV series a few hours before a meeting with NBC executives. Jerry finds out a girl he once met is still a virgin, and later Elaine educates her about men after sex. George wants to end his relationship with Susan so he can exploit his writing profession as a pick-up line. Elaine runs into a Chinese delivery boy. Kramer watches too much television.

Tension is high as Jamie has to assume a 'cousin' of the family so as to hide the fact that he has a price on his head. Unfortunately, someone they have come across recently connects up with the gang - and he knows Jaime and his secret. This rogue has a plan for the gang to rob a rent packet but he also blackmails Jaime to keep his secret - or has he spilled the tale already. Jenny and Claire are busy bringing the latest Fraser into the world - a breech birth.
