My Top 10 - "Business Movies"
Almost all movies can be said to be about a "business" as in a profession. But these movies are about the business side of an industry, or about a business itself. They are listed not in order of just how much I liked them, but by the combination of entertainment and business savvy they give.
Honorable mentions; "Network" (1976), "54" (1998), "Antitrust" (2001), "Disclosure" (1994), "Working Girl" (1988), "Pirates of Silicon Valley" (1999), "Trading Places" (1983), "Office Space" (1999), "The Insider" (1999), "Citizen Kane" (1941)
10. Boiler Room (2000) - could have been better, but shady investment dealers are a fact of life
9. Risky Business (1983) - the movie that put Tom Cruise on the radar, made Old Time Rock & Roll a classic, and showed what a farce Junior Achievement really is.
8. Secret of My Suce$$ (1987) ok, not a great movie, and not realistic, but it makes the list because its every high school Conservative kid's dream...oh yeah, like Alex P Keaton
7. Barbarians at the Gate (1993) James Garner, tobacco and takeovers, fascinating stuff
6. Other People's Money (1991) Danny Devito and Penelope Ann Miller were dynamite, very funny movie
5. There Will Be Blood (2007) Dirt to dollars with Daniel Day-Lewis, a man who would have been a successful business man in any era.
4. Net Worth (1995) (TV) Canadian. While hockey may have been a game to the players, this movie drives home the point it was a business to the owners.
3. The Social Network (2010) - the rise of facebook, concentrated on the business not just the people, a modern day business story.
2. Wall Street (1987) - I'm sure everyone expected this one to be #1, but as good as it was, it wasnt the best
1. Glengarry Glen Ross (1992) - top notch acting, cut throat sales, as real as it gets, and entertaining too
