Return to rockin' Rydell High for a whole new term! Painfully shy Todd Anderson has been sent to the school where his popular older brother was valedictorian. His room-mate, Neil, although exceedingly bright and popular, is very much under the thumb of his overbearing father. The two, along with their other friends, meet Professor Keating, their new English teacher, who tells them of the Dead Poets Society, and encourages them to go against the status quo. Each, in their own way, does this, and are changed for life.

Gabe announces that he is now the vice-principal and Mr. Woodman is the principal. The Sweathogs are pleased, until Gabe gets strict. After Vinnie visits the school to tell the gang he's dropped out, the other Sweathogs decide to follow in his footsteps.

Freaks and Geeks 1.02 - "Beers and Weirs" (1999)
When Lindsay and Sam's parents go out of town, Lindsay's friends suggest that she throw a party. Lindsay hesitantly agrees in the hopes of impressing Daniel, who has broken up with Kim. Sam and Neal become worried after going to a school assembly focusing on alcohol-related deaths. They decide to switch the real beer with non-alcoholic beer. Daniel and Kim get back together and despite the lack of alcohol, the party quickly gets out of hand. Bill samples the real keg. Neal finds a way to stop the party.

With Barbarino now an orderly at a hospital, the Sweathogs try to get jobs there, too. Meanwhile, Kotter tries to get the gang to return to school.

Freaks and Geeks 1.03 - "Tricks and Treats" (1999)
Lindsay agrees to stay home and hand out candy with her mom on Halloween night. However, when she gets an invite to go cruise around town with Nick, Daniel, and Kim, she ditches her mom to hang out with them. Sam, Bill, Neal, and Harris go trick or treating. Lindsay and the gang go on a vandalism spree that starts with smashing pumpkins and ends abruptly after Lindsay accidentally pelts Sam with an egg.

Mitch is one of the youngest students ever accepted to a university known for its programs for geniuses. He's partnered up with his roommate, science club legend Chris Knight, on a project to develop a high-powered laser. Together with their hyper-kinetic friends, they employ their intellects in the pursuit of bigger blasts, practical jokes, and a deeper understanding of what real genius is. When their final, functional laser is stolen by their teacher for a military weapon, they decide to get even.
