Kate takes offense when the guys decide to give away a date with her as a promotion for Buzz Beer. Mr. Wick finds the winning bottle cap. Kate doesn't like the idea of dating her boss, but decides that she can survive one date. Mimi warns Kate not to try anything with Wick. Kate and Wick fall for each other, to everyone's amazement. Drew worries that they will eventually break up and take out their anger on him. Kate defends Drew when Wick makes an unreasonable request at work. Wick snaps at her and says that her opinion is of no value in the work place. Kate is outraged, and repeats many insults that Drew had made about Wick behind his back. Drew tries to get Kate to calm down. She lashes out at him for not standing up for her, and breaks up with Wick. Wick fires Drew. However, Kate and Wick reveal that they orchestrated the scam so that Kate could get back at Drew for giving her away as a prize. Wick stuns Kate by declaring that he has really fallen in love with her. He writes a poem for her, but she regretfully replies that she doesn't feel the same way about him. Drew bails out the heartbroken Wick by claiming that they were playing a joke as retaliation for Kate's prank. Mimi invites Wick to turn to her on the rebound.

Continuing the investigation in New York City, Egan's wife is questioned by Frank and Tim. Just a few hours later, Egan's wife is killed and Egan's son is seen running. Kendall is taken into proctective custody until he gives up the suspect's name. Lennie Briscoe and Rey Curtis (From Law and Order) come to Baltimore. Munch finds out that Lennie knew his ex-wife a little too much (She moved to NYC after divorcing him). The suspect tried to escape in a seaplane but is caught. NYC ADA Claire Kincaid comes down to extradite him back to NYC, which made Frank upset. While extraditing him, the suspect has a heart attack and dies at the train station.

In a cross-over episode with Fox’s Ally McBeal, Bobby works with the firm of Cage and Fish to help in the defense of Marie Hanson, an apparent axe murderer who may have been Lizzie Borden in a past life. Ellenor discovers that her new boyfriend, Fred Spivak, is the crooked chiropractor treating Rebecca, while Lindsay and Helen discuss Helen's future with the DA's office.

Frank and Joe are assigned to thwart the plans of an international kidnapper known as the Scorpion (Craig Stevens) from his latest caper by getting in with his daughter who doesn't know of his activities. Scorpion travels from Grindelwald, Switzerland to Puerto Rico to perpetrate his crime, where the Justice Department is waiting for him, using his intended target as bait. He sends his men to try and track down the boys and kill them.
