The day after the fumeral of Varlam Aravidze, the mayor of a small Georgian town, his corpse turns up in his son's garden and is secretly reburied. But the corpse keeps returning, and the police eventually capture a local woman accusing her of digging it up. She says that Varlam should never be laid to rest, as when he was alive he was responsible for a Stalin-like reign of terror that led to the disappearance of many of her friends.

Rip is the World Wrestling Federation champion who is faithful to his fans and the network he wrestles for. Brell, the new head of the World Television Network, wants Rip to wrestle for his network. Rip refuses and goes back to his normal life. Still looking for a way to raise ratings, Brell initiates a show called "The Battle of the Tough Guys", a violent brawling competition. A mysterious man, Zeus, wins the competition. This gets Brell to use him as an angle to get at Rip.

When Beth comes into some money, she turns to Jimmy James for investing advice. Advice that Bill desperately wants to hear. Meanwhile after returning from vacation Matthew's new obsession for all things Japanese drives everyone crazy, while Lisa is shocked to hear that the staff thinks she can trade on her sexual relationship with Dave to get office supplies.

Drew buys a new car, but learns that the check for the down payment has bounced. A woman wrote a bad check at Drew's garage sale. Drew meets with her at the Warsaw to get his money. He finds that she is Kyra, his old girlfriend from junior high school. She apologizes and claims that her roommate wrote bad checks from her account. After she reports that her roommate's gambling debtors might be after her, Drew invites her to stay at his house. He later asks her on a date. Drew's car is repossessed after Kyra's second check also bounces. When Drew confronts her, her roommate shows up and threatens them. He gives Drew the money that Kyra owes him. Drew feels bad about doubting Kyra, and sleeps with her. He awakens in the morning to discover that she has stolen all of his furniture. She was scamming him all along, and is not even the girl he knew from junior high. Drew looks forward to receiving a substantial insurance payment, but Kyra and her brother crash their car and get caught. Drew only gets his "old, crappy stuff" and fifty dollars. Meanwhile, Kate questions her decision to buy everything on deferred payment plans after she discovers that all of the payments are due in two weeks. She tries to save money, but winds up consolidating her debts through another deferred payment plan.

Pembleton and Bayliss investigate a murder that was committed in a gay neighborhood by skinheads and the victim's sexual preference is questioned. Brodie is hired by the department to videotape the detectives' crime scenes. A voice stress analyzer is brought in for a demonstration. Meldrick gets a lead and closes an old Crosetti case that even Howard couldn't crack; it causes a little tension between them.

Bobby’s firm is given a referral by a big law firm to Dr. Jeffrey Winslow when his mistress is found brutally murdered. Due to large retainer that Winslow offers the firm, Bobby accepts the case even though he knows that Helen is the D.A. assigned to the case. Neither lawyer will recuse themselves from the case, putting their personal relationship into jeopardy. Eugene defends Rebecca's irascible uncle on tax evasion charges.

After Josh rebuffs her request, Donna seeks Sam's advice in how to get out of jury duty. Josh brings a little bit of Tahiti to his relationship with Amy Gardner.
