Hardcastle and McCormick 1.03 - "Man In A Glass House" (1983)
A mobster writes a book and in it he says some things about some people that are not nice. And among them is Hardcastle, who wants to get him. And his former associates are not pleased with it too and when they bring him to them and threaten him, he counters by saying he has records of everything they have done, so he tells them to back off. After he leaves, they meet with a fixer whom they've hired to get the records he has and kill him. While trying to get the records to a safe location, Hardcastle runs into him, literally, so Hardcastle wants to see what he has in his car but first a judge has to approve the search. While waiting, the fixer grabs the man's son and threatens him unless he gives the records. So he turns to Hardcastle for help.

Soviet paratroopers drop into Alaska to sabotage the oil pipeline in retaliation against a United States grain embargo. A skirmish occurs at a pumping station, lightly defended by Col. Jake Caffey and a National Guard reckon unit. A stalemate ensues while the possibility of World War III hangs in the balance. The danger escalates as the Russian leaders and the American President play a cat-and-mouse game.

The squad is in heavy contact with a group of enemy soldiers, and after taking several casualties manage to be retrieved by two helicopters. Danny hears that his father is hospitalized after a near-fatal heart-attack and is given emergency medical leave. Danny finds that his father and mother have separated and his father has taken up with a younger woman who is loyal to him. Danny feels left out and alienated from a man who he already wasn't close to. While waiting for his father to get better, Danny meets Rudy Morales, a vet handicapped by wounds -- a bitter, broken man. Danny is seriously upset by this and further upset by an argument with his father. Meanwhile, Taylor and Ruiz decide that they need to be by Danny's side, so they talk Anderson into pulling some strings and getting their R&R in Bangkok changed to Honolulu. Once in Hawaii they are exposed to the "real" world of mini-skirts and negative attitudes about the war.

Although Mike's been warned not to involve the police, he turns to Marcellus for help and has Liz comb the scene of the kidnapping for clues.
