Ash and Scribbs investigate the murder of Sandra Foy, who was thrown from her terrace after returning home from a salsa dancing lesson. Sandra liked to have a good time and when the police learn that she was having an affair with the dance instructor, known as the Italian Stallion, they immediately look to the husband as the culprit. It's not that simple however. She had also replaced another woman in a long-standing dance partnership and the woman is near hysterical as a result. It also turns out her husband was laundering money for organized crime through his travel business but hadn't met his obligations so she may have been killed as a warning to him. In the end, it's something from Sandra's past that has finally caught up with her. Meanwhile, DS Scribbins has decided to change her look, but she doesn't get the response she was hoping for.

Ash and Scribbs investigate the death of Christine Archer, a kennel owner and dog walker who was killed in the woods. In doing so, they enter the strange world of dog owners and their pets with several of the former having a motive to kill her. They meet Malcolm Eysher, who has recently broken an affair with the dead woman, and his somewhat ditsy wife Fiona who, it turns out, knew what he was up to. Then there is her business partner, Steve, who was cheating her by taking clients on the side. Finally, there is William Marshall against whom Archer had filed a complaint of owning a vicious dog. With her death, he is set free. Scribbs realizes that a final photo taken by the victim with her camera phone provides the necessary clue to solve the crime.

When a local senior has hip problems, a spot opens up on the Leroy curling team, but family problems lead to Brent and Oscar skipping separate teams. Lacey becomes the centre of attention, with both teams vying for her curling skills. Karen is left to take care of the trophy for the Bon Spiel, the Clavet Cup; this turns out to be a more difficult task than she thought it would be.

Mayor Fitzy's plan to promote Dog River seems to be working, as an American tourist shows up by accident. Hank is made the goodwill ambassador to Bill, the tourist, but feels that he's nothing more than a typical ignorant American. Meanwhile, Wes' liquor store becomes the new hip place to be as the brand new ATM machine he has put in, seems to be attracting crowds.

Having Lacey as a dinner guest turns out to be a bad idea when she bumps Oscar and Emma up into a new wine bracket. Davis gets new shoes on Karen's insistence, which leads to a world of pain for both him and the residents of Dog River. And Hank wins the lottery.

A new doctor comes to Dog River, but is she too small-town for them? Meanwhile, Dog River becomes a very cheap place to live for Brent, who only has a $100 bill, which nobody thinks is genuine.

Civic-minded Lacey uncovers the dark secret behind Dog River's name. Brent, Hank and Wanda resurrect their old high school rock band Thunderface. The local bar owner is thrilled but not for the reasons the band thinks. Meanwhile Davis takes an unusual interest in Oscar's claim that a famous country and western singer stole his song.

A big air show is on nearby and the people of Dog River are very excited but Lacey's breach of airshow protocol has many in town upset. Thankfully with the help of the Snowbirds, Lacey almost manages to make things right. Meanwhile, business at Brent's gas station hits an unexpected snag while Hank's new corn stand scheme exceeds all expectations. And after a rash of vandalism, Karen and Davis take to the streets on bikes to do some face-to-face community policing. But Karen is oddly reluctant.

Hunter and McCall apprehend Gavin, a murdering street punk. They later learn that he made a deal with the D.A. to implicate a mobster, Nate Demarest for four murders. Hunter knows if Gavin is back on the streets he will kill again. When Demarest tries to get Gavin, Hunter suggests limiting the number of people who knows his location and Gavin wants Hunter to be that person because he knows if anything happens to him Hunter will be under suspicion. It's while watching Gavin that McCall recalls she once investigated Demarest for killing a Fed but it went cold.
