Julia, who is separated from her abusive husband, invites officer Marsh (David Keith) over for dinner. Julia's husband is leaving the apartment as Marsh arrives. Minutes later, Marsh finds Julia dead on her bed. Leslie finds out where the daughter she gave up for adoption lives and goes to see her unannounced.
