The Dukes of Hazzard 3.01 - "Carnival of Thrills (1)" (1980)
Season Three of The Dukes of Hazzard begins with the first episode of a two-part story (originally telecast as a single two-hour "spectacular"). After the star driver of the Carnival of Thrills is seriously injured while making a dangerous jump over 32 cars, carnival owner Diane Benson (Robin Mattson) hires Bo Duke (John Schneider) to take the man's place. Inevitably, Bo falls in love with Diane, thereby causing major friction between himself and cousin Luke (Tom Wopat). That there is something more for Bo to worry about than family trouble is indicated by the lurking presence of a nasty character named Carl (Don Stroud). This episode was originally filmed for the series' second season.

After a fight between Bo and Luke breaks out, Bo leaves the farm for the carnival and prepares for the jump. But Luke, Daisy and Jesse are determined to stop him but they receive some shocking news about the carnival from an insurance investigator named Zimbra.

A man accused of murdering his wife and co-workers leads the CSIs on a wild ride through a busy casino, eventually barricading himself and a hostage in a casino hotel room. The CSIs process the evidence from the crime scene to determine whether or not the man acted alone or had an accomplice. One of the detectives eventually steps in as a hostage negotiator, putting himself in danger.

Gonzo takes a leave from the hospital to supervise a very rich young woman with a rare medical condition, and is charged with sexual misconduct when he rejects her advances. Meanwhile, Trapper looks for a new scrub nurse to replace Starch.

The mother of a little girl who needs heart surgery refuses to let Gonzo operate because of sexual misconduct charges pending against him. Ernie agrees to take the job as Trapper's scrub nurse.

Everyone makes a trip to the Hamptons to "see the baby" and enjoy the weekend. George's girlfriend goes topless and everyone sees her chest before he does. "The baby" is the most hideous thing they've ever seen. Elaine is confused when a handsome doctor refers to her as "breathtaking" - the same term he later uses to describe the baby. Kramer finds a filled lobster trap. Jerry's girlfriend sees George naked, after he's just gotten out of the pool, so something isn't as it should be.

George comes to the realization that he should try to do the opposite of everything, so he does, his luck changes and everything begins to go his way including getting a girlfriend, a job with the Yankees and moving out of his parents' house. Things begin to be unlucky for Elaine after she buys a box of "Jujyfruits." Kramer appears on Regis & Kathie Lee to promote his coffee table book. Rachel wants to break up with Jerry and he readily agrees, because his luck has been "even Steven." Elaine's eating of "Jujyfruits" causes Pendant Publishing to go under, and later she realizes that she and George have traded places.
