A serial killer is targeting New York's lonely single women who respond to a Lonely Hearts newspaper ad. His calling card is an orchid he pins to the body. Meanwhile, McCall is writing an article about Robert E Lee for a military magazine and trying to help a young actress from being exploited by a pimp.

While attending a wedding, McCall is taken hostage by Middle Eastern terrorists seeking to capture and execute a philanthropist from their country.

Steven accepts works of art for WKS's 1986 auction, reluctantly even Alex's 'fiscal-surrealist' bank yard eviction drawing (at age 5) and an abstract welded sculpture by Nick, which only gets a bid from filthy rich, glamorous art lover Victoria Hurstenberg, who calls him an irresistible hidden talent. Nick brings more of his works for a private show at the Keaton house, and becomes her protégé. Only Mallory and naive Nick need weeks to realize the airhead didn't get to see Nick since miss Victoria offered her patronage not for his 'art' but for his company.

Last Resort 1.01 - "Captain" (2012)
Captain Marcus Chaplin is commander of the USS Colorado, a ballistic missile submarine. He has a good crew and all are quite good at their jobs. They receive an order to launch two missiles - the target is Pakistan - but they've received the order over a low security radio band and when he requests confirmation, Chaplin is relieved of command. His XO Sam Kendal also requests confirmation and soon after, the Colorado is fired upon - by a U.S. destroyer. Chaplin realizes they are in very deep and heads to a nearby island for safety.

Last Resort 1.02 - "Blue on Blue" (2012)
A fleet of U.S. warships approaches the 200 mile perimeter Capt. Chaplin has declared but he also activates the prototype Perseus system which makes the sub virtually invisible. On the island, about one-quarter of the crew are refusing to report for duty. But that isn't their only problem. When a airplane approaches the island they suspect teams of special forces may now be on the island. From the brig, Chief Prosser is making his own plans and encouraging disloyalty among the enlisted sailors.

The station starts airing editorials from Lash Rambo, who many DJs object to. In protest, Razor play Ice-T's "Cop Killer", making Mr. Carlson decide just how extreme, to either side, the station should be willing to go.

Looking to generate publicity, Herb has a radio version of Studs with Les, Donovan, and Buddy. The winner ends up going on a very surprising date.

With Kotter away on a teacher's conference, the Sweathogs decide to spend quality time with a pregnant Julie. However, Julie is not so thrilled with all the attention from the Sweathogs.

Season Finale
Epstein spies a sexy art teacher kiss Kotter and assumes that Kotter is cheating on Julie.

The Welcome Back, Kotter flashback episode. The Sweathogs throw Kotter a surprise party before the start of the new semester. During the party, Kotter and the Sweathogs reflect back on all the good times they had over the first two seasons.

Convicted corporate criminal Howard engineers a prison break as he and a number of fellow inmates are being transferred to a new facility. The escapees storm a shopping mall and take a group of shoppers hostage (after killing many more of them) before making their demands. Only Rudy, a former mercenary and brother of one of the fugitives, can take out the criminals before more of the hostages die.

A womanizer is grabbed by some people who demand that he give them something that one of the women he's been with gave him. He has no idea what they're talking about so he turns to McCall for help. After going through all the women he knows they hit a wall. That is until he remembers one other woman whom he met briefly.

While Andy's inability to handle a toy the box recommends from an age two month younger makes worried pa Steven determined the toddler needs to go to preschool, which ma Elyse forbids, Alex enjoys the rare honor to be picked as professor Spanos's teaching assistant for economics. An arrogant professorial air and ruthless strictness come naturally to 'Mr. Keaton, or Sir', but he talks Ellen out of changing to another course to assure impartiality.

As Jennifer is growing up, Steven is feeling that he is no longer an important part of her life. Meanwhile, Alex attempts to refute a traffic ticket.
